| Best 2 Albums Per Decade
Shoutout to Eggvander for the idea, really awesome so I wanted to do this rlist myself but rrinstead of just 1 album, I wanted to do 2 per decade that I rthink are the best. | 1 | | Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited
60's -- 1965, I remember my father playing this record when I was just under 5
years old and it has never left my brain. One of the most amazing albums I have
ever heard and the album that shot Dylan's fame through the roof. | 2 | | The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed
60's -- 1969, Let It Bleed is an album I grew up listening to in my little 2-story home in Philadelphia. It contains some of the
darkest and most political lyrics the Stones have ever written. It also has my favorite stones song of all time "Gimme Shelter" on
it. Every song is a winner except Country Honk which is the only imperfect song on the album. | 3 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV
70's -- 1971, This is easily one of the best albums of all time and still rocks as hard
as it did in the 70's. Stairway To Heaven, When the Levee Breaks, Black Dog, this
album has it all. Page+Plant at their very best. | 4 | | Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
70's -- 1975, my favorite Pink Floyd album and it isn't even close. The opener is
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", a beautiful long, slowly building track that begins
and ends the album. In between you have 3 more perfect tracks (Welcome to the
Machine, Have a Cigar, and Wish You Were Here). This is Floyd's best album IMO
and as mentioned it really isn't that close. | 5 | | Michael Jackson Thriller
80's -- 1982, 7 number one singles and one of the most memorable music videos of
all time. It is the best selling album OF ALL TIME. This is not only one of the best
albums of the 80's, it is one of the best ever. | 6 | | Bruce Springsteen Born in the U.S.A.
80's -- 1984, while not as legendary as "Born To Run", Born In the USA was still an
incredible album. Seven top-10 singles which is still a record tied with Janet and
Michael Jackson. Standouts: Born in the USA, I'm on Fire, Glory Days, Dancing in
the Dark, My Hometown. | 7 | | Radiohead Ok Computer
90's -- 1997, no explanation needed. One of the more influential albums of the 90's
and changed the sound of Radiohead for good. | 8 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Blood Sugar Sex Magik
90's - 1991, let me start by saying yes I left off Nirvana, nothing against them I'm
just not a big fan of the "grunge" movement. RHCP's last really good album IMO,
after this every song was about California. Suck my Kiss and Give it Away are still
hard rockers now. | 9 | | AFI Sing the Sorrow
00's -- 2003, I am very biased on this one as I am a huge AFI fan but this was the
highlight of my High School years and personally one of AFI's best albums. The
Leaving Song Pt. 2, Girl's Not Grey, Silver and Cold, not a bad song on this one. | 10 | | The White Stripes Elephant
00's -- 2003, The White Stripes had already had a few good albums but this one
put them on notice. This is the album that got me really into Jack White and have
since become a huge fan of his guitar work. Not only does this CD include the
overplayed (but awesome) Seven Nation Army, it also contains one of the most
badass blues songs in the past 20 years in Ball and Biscuit. Blues music lives on. | 11 | | Circa Survive Blue Sky Noise
10's -- 2010, easily the hardest ones to choose because of the fact it's only been
4 years. Blue Sky Noise is everything a Circa Survive album should be. Juturana was
great but I enjoy BSN much more. Anthony Green (singer) is at the top of his game
the whole album. The progression this band has made from Juturana to now is
incredible. | 12 | | Jack White Lazaretto
10's -- 2014, I know some people didn't like this album but I personally enjoy the
hell out of it. If it makes you feel better you can switch this with Blunderbuss and I
will be still happy with my list. Lazaretto combines blues, rock n roll, and even has
some country roots to it. | |

06.27.14 | Why not one or two for each year... I'm gonna make that list! xD | JKennedy
06.27.14 | Good idea! I just thought there are too many good albums to only do 1 per decade. As you can see in the 70's I even listed honorable mentions. | SharkTooth
06.27.14 | I love 2, but can't really 5 it due to Country Honk | JKennedy
06.27.14 | SharkTooth gotta love the country honk though! Just 1 imperfect song on an otherwise perfect album. | SharkTooth
06.27.14 | true dat | PitchforkArms
06.27.14 | lol guys every album-year list idea ever has been done | JKennedy
06.27.14 | PitchformArms -- if you want to play that card I would imagine 99% of lists done have already been done before. The content is what is different for each list since different opinions. | SharkTooth
06.27.14 | The only exception for what you just said would be with a Radiohead ranking | JKennedy
06.27.14 | Nobody has ranked Radiohead albums yet? Odd.
SharkTooth noticed you did a review of this album and of Beggars, whats your favorite stones album? | BenMorrison
06.27.14 | Mine would be
60s
The Doors - Strange Days
Led Zeppelin I
70s

Lucifer's Friend - Banquet
80s
Mercyful Fate - Melissa
Savatage - Gutter Ballet
90s
Pentagram - Be Forewarned
Saint Vitus - Die Healing
00s
Savatage - Poets and Madmen
Pentagram - First Daze Here (The Vintage Collection)

Black Sabbath - 13
Pentagram - Last Rites
| NorthernSkylark
06.27.14 | 60's VU - VU & Nico, Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
70's Big Star - #1 record, The Pop Group - Y
80's Prefab Sprout - Steve Mcqueen, Sonic Youth - Sister
90's PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love, Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
00's Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica, Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
10's The National - High Violet, Women - Public Strain
The only easy one was the 10's, cause they are both my only 5's yet this decade.
The 60's felt like throwing a coin for it, and so did the 80's - but I'm ok with this list. | JKennedy
06.27.14 | BenMorrison -- I had a pretty hard time not putting Led Zeppelin I, or II or III on this list. I tried not to use the same artist more than once (only Jack White appears twice). | JKennedy
06.27.14 | NorthernSkylark - thanks! Ya the 10's were my hardest because there really hasn't been much the past 4 years that I found to be really good that I still think is really good this much later. 00's was mostly just nostalgic picks and the 70's were really tough as that is likely my favorite decade of music. | NorthernSkylark
06.27.14 | yeah, I still can't believe I have a list with no Bowie/Dylan/Floyd etc. | SharkTooth
06.27.14 | @JKennedy
good question, my fave continuously shifts, but for the moment I might have to say Sticky Fingers, a damn fine rock n' roll album right there. But as I said my opinion continuously changes as I friggin' love the Stones | JKennedy
06.27.14 | @SharkTooth Stones are my favorite band of all time and are IMO the greatest rock n roll band of all time no questions asked. Mine shift between Beggars, Sticky, Let it Bleed, and of course (my #1 most of the time) Exile on Main Street | JKennedy
06.27.14 | @NorthernSkylark Ya no Floyd or Dylan is a travesty. I came close to putting Wish You Were Here, Dark side and the wall on this list, 3 albums that are flawless IMO. Granted you have to listen to the last 2 from start to finish to truly get the full effect. Dylan has so many great albums that could have also filled this list out. Bowie is okay, I never really could get into his music. | NorthernSkylark
06.27.14 | "Bowie is okay" is a travesty - or you haven't paid enough attention. But then again, to each man his
own. I'm not on the WYWH wagon myself and I would never in a million years choose Thriller , though I
dig some of his work a lot. | JKennedy
06.27.14 | @NorthernSkylark --- I will give Bowie another listen, what album would you recommend? Also no triller? 9 tracks, 7 #1's, aka nearly 80% of the CD was a smash hit. | SharkTooth
06.27.14 | Hey man, I noticed you don't have any Kyuss albums rated
I think you'll love Welcome To Sky Valley
(I'm saying this because WTSV would by my #1 for the 90's, and all time) | NorthernSkylark
06.27.14 | Well, I would say start with Hunky Dory and then move on to Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. | Trebor.
06.27.14 | let me start by saying yes I left off Nirvana, nothing against them I'm just not a big fan of the "grunge" movement.

06.27.14 | wow cool list! I live for led zep, pink floyed, dylan, the stones and Michael jackson! except i just checked out that afi group. scary! *shivers* | Trebor.
06.27.14 | ^Are you trying to one up his cringeworthy comments? | TheYeti
06.27.14 | haha i see we have a funnyman! | JKennedy
06.30.14 | @Trebor. blow me, if you don't like my opinion thats fine but no need to be a dickhead. | JKennedy
06.30.14 | @NorthernSkylark listened more to Bowie today, I dig it but it still wouldn't crack my list at this time. | zakalwe
