| Ege Bamyasi Ranked
I'm listening to Tago Mago for the first time ever so I decided to rank the
only Can album I know well. | 7 | | Can Ege Bamyasi
"Soup" I have nothing against it's length, it's just not as memorable as the other 6
even if it has its great moments. 3.5/5 | 6 | | Can Ege Bamyasi
"Spoon" This song is pretty cool, it has the whole Indian influence to it that works well.
4/5 | 5 | | Can Ege Bamyasi
"Sing Swan Song" This one is pretty cool as well, the singing pattern to it is weird in a
way that works. Very watery sounding. 4/5 | 4 | | Can Ege Bamyasi
"One More Night" The music is really catchy here and the line "one more saturday
night" runs through my head sometimes. 4.5/5 | 3 | | Can Ege Bamyasi
"Vitamin C" Another really catchy one. It's dramatic in a lot of cool ways. 4.5/5 | 2 | | Can Ege Bamyasi
"Pinch" This is basically just 9 minutes of awesomeness. Great opener. That penny
whistle! 5/5 | 1 | | Can Ege Bamyasi
"I'm So Green" Literally one of the best songs from the 70s that I've heard, it's so
easy to jam out to that guitar line. 5/5 | |

05.11.14 | Also, so far Tago Mago has been a lot weirder than Ege Bamyasi. Hmmmm | menawati
05.11.14 | they're both brilliant | ArsMoriendi
05.11.14 | @Frippertronics: I know, I plan to check everything by them out eventually. I know their first 5 albums are supposed to be much better than their later ones.
Also so far as much as I love Ege Bamyasi, I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up loving Tago Mago more. This album has been perfect so far.
I 4'd Ege Bamyasi, but so far Tago Mago looks like a potential 5. | menawati
05.11.14 | dont ignore their later ones they are fine, a lot different though (talking heads ripped off 'Landed' big time) | ArsMoriendi
05.11.14 | lol I love Talking Heads, so that sounds like something to look forward to.
Also I ended up 4.5ing Tago Mago, not quite a 5, but close :) | menawati
05.11.14 | only partof tago that drags a bit for me is a few too many of 'what i saw... mushroom head' | Onirium
05.11.14 | Okay ranking, and yeah Tago Mago is their asbolute best imo. Future Days is cool too, I never checked the rest of their discog, though | menawati
05.11.14 | whole discog is worth exploring, ups and downs but all have interesting stuff on | ArsMoriendi
05.12.14 | Yeah based on that Future Days song Fripp showed me, that's definitely my next Can album to listen to. Eventually... | Riviere
05.12.14 | Monster Movie is also legit. | bzfgt
05.22.14 | 1. One More Night
2. Vitamin C
3. Spoon
4. Sing Swan Song
5. Soup
6. I'm So Green
7. Pinch
This is no diss on "I'm so Green," the first six are all amazing. I've never been able to love "Pinch," though, it seems like an OK jam
that doesn't quite move me enough for me to think it should be an album opener.
"One More Night" to me exemplifies the best elements of the band on this album. If you don't pay attention it can seem kind of
generic, but it's anything but that. The way the band plays here creates a space that's larger than the actual notes played, they
allow your ear/mind to sort of fill in the picture, and it's all so rhythmically tight and flowing.
Anyway, the order I have here is always subject to change, there's not much distance between the first six tracks...

05.22.14 | Also check out the live "Spoon" on The Lost Tapes, it's magnificent. |
