AUTECHRE RANKED

Already two of the most influential electronic producers ever, most of their rstuff is still ahead of the curve and will continue to be referenced way into rthe future.
11Autechre
LP5

Although I still think this is a great album its the one Autechre album I haven't ever
fully connected with. Still, the beats are incredible and for a lot of people this is one
of their best.
Listen to: Rae / Under BOAC / Arch Carrier
10Autechre
Oversteps

I cannot believe this ended up so low, really excellent album. I don't dislike this in
any shape or form. I would definitely recommend this to people trying to get into
Autechre as its one of their more accessible records.
Listen to: Ilanders / See on See / D-Sho Qub
9Autechre
Incunabula

Took me a while to get round to this. Although a lot of it is relatively simple
(compared to their later stuff) it still manages to be a landmark IDM release. Some
really great chilled out tracks on this.
Listen to: Bike / Doctrine / 444
8Autechre
Quaristice

A lot of criticism was given to this for being just a random collection of tracks,
which is true in a way. However, all of them are masterfully produced and there
are plenty of gems to sift out and add to a playlist. For the itunes generation.
Listen to: Altibzz / Perlence / 90101-5l-l
7Autechre
Chiastic Slide

This one flies under the radar for the most part. This is where the experimental
stuff started yet it still contains beats resembling Hip-Hop somewhat. Need to get a
rapper to jump on these...
Listen to: Cipater / Calbruc / Nuane
6Autechre
Amber

Like LP5, many will think this is far too low. Probably the most beautiful album
Autechre have released + also the most melodic. I just personally go to Ae for
their more out there stuff. This is another good one for beginners.
Listen to: Montreal / Further / Teartear
5Autechre
Untilted

Has started to get the appreciation it deserves as of late. Coming at the end of
'second era' Autechre it is perhaps the most accessible of those albums. Also it is
lighter in tone and is better for just throwing on at any time.
Listen to: Pro Radii / Augmatic Disport / Sublimit
4Autechre
Draft 7.30

Coming straight after Confield, Draft is often seen as merely the aftermath and
perhaps a step back (how much further could they go). For this reason, like
Chiastic Slide, this one tends not to be mentioned too much when discussing their
best albums but if you like the more experimental 'robot music' of Autechre, you'll
probably love this.
Listen to: Xylin Room / Surripere / V-Proc
3Autechre
Exai

Although the size of Exai is intimidating at first, the tracks on here cover such a
wide range that you're bound to find something you like. For me, there isn't really a
weak moment throughout the whole 2hour running time. Incredible that they're still
releasing such great albums this far into their career.
Listen to: irlite (get 0) / bladelores / cloudline
2Autechre
Tri Repetae

Having an album so widely lauded as a classic is unusual for Autechre as most of
their albums are very divisive. This one however provides a distillation of
everything great about Autechre. The melody and tranquility displayed on their first
two records is here but has been melded with more complex rhythms. For me the
first 7 tracks has to be one of the strongest runs ever, every one of them is classic
Ae.
Listen to: Clipper / Rotar / Eutow
1Autechre
Confield

Though I never hated it I never understood the love some people had for this
record. However the sounds always interested me and after coming back to this
again and again I began to seep into it's hellish dystopia. Although it is devoid of
tangible 'emotion' it is one of the darkest psychedelic trips you can take. This one's
not for the faint of heart.
Listen to: Parhelic Triangle / Bine / Lentic Catachresis
