Here's some albums by bands that I think are totally underrated. Kind of self explanitory =]
This band is probably the best post-hardcore outfit besides thrice that I listen to. These guys do everything so well and have been doing so since the Satellite Years era-2002. These guys recently broke up, and it made me very sad because they had an extremely bright future. Fuck trustkill records. But really, this band is worth listening to, whether it be this album, The Satellite Years, or A Types. All 3 records are outstanding and I think they don't get enough credit.
I mean really... Stephen Wilson, and Aviv Geffen, one of the premier songwriters from Israel joining forces... did you expect it not to be great? Cloudy Now is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
This is probably one of the artsiest records that I have ever listened to and that may be a turn off to some people. But the amazing lyrical work of Jesse Lacey and the great backup of the band, not to mention some songs that are just amazing (The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows is one of the few songs that I consider perfect). Definitely worth checking this record out.

This cd, like most of these has a pretty high rating overall on sputnik, but it's just SO good. A lot of people just wave their hand and say well the Ghostship Demos were better. I think this is TFOT at their best, and is better than Manipulator no contest. The guitar work on here and the progressive elements as well as the downright experimentalism on this album make it really shine.
The Alchemy Index Vols. I-IV
I'm going to get a shitload of hate for this and I know it. But I think this is one of the most important releases of modern music to come about in the past 5-10 years. It's just beautifully executed and pushes the envelope of what we think of as music today. Doesn't get enough credit and people always say it is overshined by Vheissu.
ehhh 3 and 5 aren't really that underrated.
3-5 are pretty well liked on this site.
hahahahah @ 5. Underrated? Important? PUSHES THE ENVELOPES? You're a riot, man.
5 is overrated by all means. Like Water alot but Vheissu is where it's at. 1 is underrated and a great band. My friends like3 but never listen to them.
I just noticed you said Brand New put out the "artsiest" record you have ever listened to.
come on man this list has to be a joke
Agree with 2. Even though it doesn't stray to far from the PT sound, Steven does come up with some magnificent and haunting melodies. Not one bad song to be found here.
Yeah, can't say three or five are underrated at all. They get a lot of love...especially #5 (there've been more than a few lists in the past week or so that rank the songs on there...and I should know, because I made one of them).
5 by some form of devil magic actually eclipses Blackwater Park in overation. Really it is nothing special whatsoever. Other bands have done the concept better and each element has at least 3 bad songs.
And what envelope does it push man? Even if you hate Mastodon, they already did and are doing this concept so it's not like Thrice done something unheard of.
Blackfield II was way better that 1 imo. that said, its still a good album
RIVERSIDE IS UNDERATED, these, not so much
3- 5 being underrated are a joke
list is hilarious
3-5 may not be underrated on Sputnik but in other places, yes. I completely agree with you about 5...
Big Baby Jesus
This list is cute.
Lol at all the flaming comments. I knew I was going to get hate for 5. And Yes Coke, 2 is a very artsy release. As far as music being an art form, I view brand new as being very high up in the list of bands that do that well. 1 is extremely under-rated. And yeah, I was talking about in general, not on sputnik.
5 is underated everywhere but in Sputnik tho.
