I'll undoubtedly get crap for this, but yes this my all time favorite. It combines two
things I love; kick ass punk rock music and the glamour of musicals. I would have
never gotten into music without this album. The typical reason it seems that
people don't like this album is because the worst songs on the album have been
played on the radio every day for the last 10 year. It's songs like "Homecoming",
"St. Jimmy" and "Letterbomb" that make this album my favorite.
1:1 is NOT PUNK, there's a reason it's called pop-punk, that being that it is 77% pop 23% punk.
2:needs some Black Sabbath
3:it's a pretty good list otherwise
It's debatable. Punk doesn't have to always be as heavy as Minor Threat. You look at bands that are
considered punk today that back in the day were getting trashed for being so melodic (the Clash, the
Buzzcocks). Green Day does absolutely nowhere fit in the slew of the pop-punk bands like Fall Out Boy
and Good Charlotte. So I think the best compromise is to just call Green Day, Rancid etc. punk
revival. Just like post-punk revival is somewhat different than the original post-punk, but is still a
genre.
