The Mantle
4.5 - Without question for me the superior of the two. The heavier focus on folk creates more diversity, and in a yin-yang-like fashion makes the conventionally heavy sections more poignant. Also, I just like the songs better. (The Hawthorne Passage, In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion, and ...And The Great Cold Death of The Earth are standouts for me) | | 2 |  | Agalloch
Ashes Against The Grain
4.0 - While this certainly retains the signature Agalloch folksiness, there is an obvious emphasis on electric-guitar driven metal. At times, I feel that some trimming could've been done to a few tracks. (Limbs, and the Our Fortress Is Burning Trilogy as standouts). | |
