Omaha's Jan. 2014 Jams

The albums, and accompanying songs, I've been spinning the most lately.
1Bonobo
The North Borders

Great vibes all around. Highlight: Know You
2Burial
Rival Dealer

Most accessible Burial release? Maybe, but that sure isn't a bad thing. Highlight: Rival
Dealer
3Baths
Obsidian

I will never not be listening to this. Highlight: Ossuary (as of right now)
4Gold Panda
Half Of Where You Live

Clearly flawed, and yet so fascinating. Highlight: Junk City II
5Chance The Rapper
Acid Rap

Only a few songs really work for me here, but when Chance strikes gold you'll be listening to
him on repeat. Highlight: Pusha Man
6Four Tet
There Is Love In You

It took me a long time to really enjoy this record, but it hit me hard the other day. Warm
and memorable house music done right. Highlight: She Likes To Fight (a real deviation from
the norm on the record, but the song's so heartfelt.)
7Childish Gambino
Because the Internet

This is the least bad Donald Glover's music has ever been, and it's a damned shame we
kinda have to look at him that way as a musician. The production's great here, though, and
some tracks in particular showcase his increasing finesse as a rapper. Highlight: The Worst
Guys
8Main Attrakionz
808s and Dark Grapes II

Squadda B, Clams Casino and Friendzone show up here to make some of the most
impressive cloud rap beats I've ever heard- they're almost good enough to convince me to
disregard the sometimes sloppy rapping on this record. Highlight: Bossalinis & Fooliyones
Pt. 2
9Shpongle
Museum of Consciousness

Still haven't made it through this whole thing yet, but it's Shpongle, so of course it's great.
These guys always know how to ensnare the listener, and so far this record seems to live
true to that fact.
10Boards of Canada
Music Has the Right To Children

So nostalgic. Highlight: Rue the Whirl (so many favorites, but this one always gets me)
