05.29.13 My 15 favourite Albums Of 2013 (so Far)

My 15 favourite Albums Of 2013 (so Far)

There have been some pretty kickass albums that have been released so rfar this year. These are my 15 favourite so far.
1Soilwork
The Living Infinite

Probably the best Melodic Death Metal album I've ever heard, from a band that's
parted ways with one of the primary songwriters
2Love and Death
Between Here and Lost

Fantastic debut from Head's new solo band, huge improvement over Save Me From
Myself, overall a very solid album from start to finish.
3Alice in Chains
The Devil put Dinosaurs Here

This album proves that Black Gives Way to Blue wasn't just a fancy comeback. The
band really is back for good, and DuVall, although obviously not as unique a singer
as Staley, has done an excellent job at providing the appropriate vocals for this
album as well as the band.
4Sevendust
Black Out the Sun

Combining the heaviness of their older albums with the electronics and impressive
songwriting of their more recent releases. Lajon Witherspoon shows incredible
vocals as always, and the instrumentation is very solid.
5Bring Me The Horizon
Sempiternal

This band expanded their Horizon on Sempiternal, with a lot more experimentation
than their previous releases. Some people hated it, but this album helped to get a
lot of people into the band, including me.
6earthtone9
IV

Not exactly arc'tan'gent, but still a brilliant album from this band.
7Queens of the Stone Age
...Like Clockwork

Era Vulgaris, for me, was a little bit of a disappointment, considering some of their
previous releases (Rated R, Songs for the Deaf et al) were tremendous. This album
is a big improvement, showing a lot more consistency and much improved quality.
8Lo-Pro
Disintegration Effect

Before I heard this record, this band was just another rock band to me. But this
album was actually a lot lot better than I had expected. Huge riffs with a bit of an
industrial feel. Brilliant.
9Mechina
Empyrean

"It's the year 2654, welcome aboard the starship Mechina, where we are taking you
to the planet Empyrean. Here is the epic soundtrack to your epic journey."
10Stone Sour
House of Gold and Bones - Part 2

I thought part 1 was good... then I got blown away by this album. Best record this
band has ever released.
11TesseracT
Altered State

TesseracT unite with a new vocalist and create an incredible album that blends
Progressive Metal riffs with experimental elements and ambience.
12Killswitch Engage
Disarm the Descent

In my opinion, the best metalcore band out there, Killswitch Engage reunite with
vocalist Jesse Leach for the first time since 2002 to create an absolute beast of an
album. Don't expect anything new, but it's a solid release that'll keep fans satisfied.
13Red
Release The Panic

This is Red's weakest effort to date. But as a long-term fan of this band, I still
found it enjoyable to listen to, and songs such as If We Only and Glass House are
among some of my favourite songs by this band.
14Escape the Fate
Ungrateful

By no means is this album perfect. But this is definitely a huge improvement over
their last album.
15Amaranthe
The Nexus

Pop vocals mixed with Metal riffs and screams. It shouldn't work, but somehow it
does.
