Favorites From Jazzfest
I went to Jazzfest in New Orleans, Louisiana last weekend. I heard great music, ate great food, and got a great tan line. Below were my favorite bands and moments of the weekend. |
1 | | Charles Bradley Victim of Love
Favorite Band: Charles Bradley. This man and his band were spectacular. Charles Bradley is 65 years old, and shakes it and sings like he is half his age. What I am even more impressed with is the raw emotion he put into each song, and how at the end of his set he wandered into the crowd, crying and hugging everyone. It was touching to say the least. |
2 | | Charles Bradley No Time For Dreaming
Best Coffee: The best coffee I had the three days I was there (and I was drinking 4+ cups a day) was from Morning Call. The Cafe Au lait was delicious. Also you just have to love the atmosphere of the place. |
3 | | B.B. King Live
Best Food from the Festival: My favorite food from the festival was the pecan crusted blackened catfish with ramalad sauce. Man was it delicious. It wasn't muddy at all, and the sauce was great. |
4 | | B.B. King Blues on the Bayou
Favorite Desert: This one definitely has to be the bread pudding from Mothers. No one makes bread pudding quite like that place. And I have heard that the sweet potato pie is quite something |
5 | | Better Than Ezra Before the Robots
Neatest art work: The shona stone sculptures by Peter Rujuwa were absolutely fascinating. Pictures online do not justify the true beauty of his work |
6 | | B.B. King Lucille
Honorable Mention for best band: Mr. B.B. King. It is truly amazing how much reverence is given to B.B. King. It is truly amazing how B.B. at 88 years old can still lead a group of thousands in song in the pouring rain. |
