05.01.13 | Obviously there are more, but I thought I'd give you a taster. Post yours below! |
ButteryBiscuitBass
05.01.13 | PA3 freaked me out when all those old women came out of nowhere, reminded me of my first successful grab a granny mission. |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | I agree for 2, the first paranormal activity can get pretty tense if you enter the mood of the movie, fuck that ending scene startled me |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | I thought 3 was p lame, the first PA is the only one that nailed it imo. |
Buzzkillr
05.01.13 | yeah, one is pretty woah |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Dude, I could watch that over and over and it would get me every time. |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | Oh and creepiest scene ever for me was in Eraserhead when the freak baby gets cut open and his head floats in the room screaming, another terrifying scene for me was at the ending of el topo when the poor sods of the cavern get massacared as they seek shelter in the city (towards the end). Finaly Evil Dead when the hero hangs around with all of his dead friends just waiting for the occasion to laugh and kill him |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Eraserhead has been mentioned a lot today. Evil Dead has some pretty morbid scenes but it never really got to me. I generally don't think anything will beat the 1st time I watched Mullholland Drive, holy shit. |
KILL
05.01.13 | 1 is amazing
paranormal activity fucking sucked
but gj! |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | Yeah dunno this is Eraserhead day for me! Still haven't watched Mullholland drive.
Pink Floyd the Wall by Alan Parker also has some pretty eerie/creepy scenes, especially the ones that are drawn. |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | You either find PA scary or you don't, I for one bought it haha. |
Chrisjon89
05.01.13 | "Atmosphere is what makes a film scary, not jumpscares!" Totally agree. Eraserhead creeped me out. not just the baby parts. even the dinner table scene. i think it was mostly the sound design that made me edgy in that.
haven't seen 2, but I saw Part 3 and I laughed at the ending. |
Hyperion1001
05.01.13 | [Rec] is still the scariest movie ive ever watched |
KeithStone582
05.01.13 | 1 is so fucked up. |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Ye, they show way too much in that one. |
Buzzkillr
05.01.13 | http://vimeo.com/19215499
mulholland drive scene is here if anyone wants to watch it. goddamn |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Oh man Hyp, REC had some SERIOUS scares. |
KILL
05.01.13 | creepiest film for me was ju on or whatever when i saw that i pissed my panties, havent seen it in years tho |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | yep heard Lych and a friend worked a year just for sound design and hard work payed off (plus I hate the sound of wind so it was just horrid for me) ugh that fucking mutant baby crying and laughing, poor henry seriously (love his haircut though). Saw all PA and nothing beats the first but I enjoyed the 3.
Rec 1 is a damn good horror movie, the second is terrible though. |
Hyperion1001
05.01.13 | ive seen movies that have been disturbing and creepy but nothing ever physically horrified me quite like the first time i watched [Rec]
it probably had a lot to do with where and how i was watching it, but still. i will never forget the scene where the firefighter falls from the top floor, holy shit |
PunchforPunch
05.01.13 | ju-on? |
Killerhit
05.01.13 | that part in Twin Peaks when that demon jumps over the couch after slowly walking towards the camera and then it blacks out.
fucking. terrifying. |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | Wich ju? the american remake where Japan has more americans than Japanese people. |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Its hand held shaky cam horror at its finest.
@KILL the japanese Grudge, the original? Still haven't seen that. |
Buzzkillr
05.01.13 | i saw rec but it didn't leave much of an impact on me tbh. i remember being scared shitless when I saw the shining at 13 tho |
KILL
05.01.13 | the jap film, fuck the buffy one that bitch was lame |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | Lucky you mate, couldn't find any good versions of the jap one |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | the japs do it right, so I can see it being scary. |
PunchforPunch
05.01.13 | damn kill you must watch ringu the jap version of the ring |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | Japs are really good for horror, shame they don't always propose subs |
MrElmo
05.01.13 | Fuck the american "The Ring", it's the most overrated and boring horror film ever |
KILL
05.01.13 | ive seen ringu and i actually found the ring more scary, maybe cos i saw the ring much younger tho before i was a hard thrash warrior |
Buzzkillr
05.01.13 | @killerhit: you mean this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B5pE1DEHyk

Man, that Twin Peaks scene was fucking scary. |
KILL
05.01.13 | all the horror geeks think 3s the best and its great but 1 is much more effective its a classic for a reason dude |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | 1st one was the first horror movie I ever watched, scared the shit out of me. Think I was 12 at the time. |
Hyperion1001
05.01.13 | idk i like the exorcist, but it kind of goes downhill when linda blair goes apeshit, if theyd kept the whole thing with the same tension as the first section it would have been better
scariest part of that whole movie is the beginning scene in the desert with the dogs |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Dude, what about the vision scene with the old woman and that demon? That shit is creepy. |
KILL
05.01.13 | hey man that spider walk some crazy stuff right there! |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | That scene is classic.
The original Texas Chainsaw had some pretty harrowing sequences. |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Fuck did I just watch? haha. |
Hyperion1001
05.01.13 | oh yeah texas chainsaw is scary but i cant help but think ill never see it like it was supposed to be seen
imagine watching that movie in 1974 opening night. |
Hyperion1001
05.01.13 | yeah possession rules |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | It was banned almost straight away, its a little dated now but damn, that scene where Kirk gets hammerblowed to the head and he starts spazzing out. |
ZilbelPing
05.01.13 | I loved the original Texas Chainsaw for how instantly everything happened. Like the part when he bludgeons the dude, damn. |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | The remake was so fucking lame. |
zakalwe
05.01.13 | Nothing comes close to the stranger danger awareness films they used to show at school when I was about 5. Strange men with red eyes pointing at nothing, weird sound effects going off, expressionless faced kids screaming. Absolutely fucking terrifying. |
BigPleb
05.01.13 | Can't say I've had that harrowing experience haha. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
05.01.13 | Nothing comes close to the stranger danger awareness films they used to show at school when I was about 5. Strange men with red eyes pointing at nothing, weird sound effects going off, expressionless faced kids screaming. Absolutely fucking terrifying.

FloatHereForever
05.01.13 | There is a scene of the grudge and im pretty sure its near the end where someone opens a closet or something and the grudge leans out with a horrifying face. I cant find it on youtube so if anyone can id appreciate it |
DrMaximus

that being said losing sleep over a movie and being older than 9 shouldn't both happen ever. |
YoYoMancuso
05.02.13 | The Shining, whenever the girls suddenly flash onto the screen it's pretty terrifying.

peaks40
05.02.13 | ^i didn't think eraserhead had that many terrifying scenes |
ITsHxCTOASTER
05.02.13 | I guess I really just mean the overall tone and atmosphere and all of the movie rather than specific scenes |
peaks40
05.02.13 | yeah, the soundtrack is amazing |
ITsHxCTOASTER
05.02.13 | Totally dude, and I haven't seen any of their films yet but I feel like Jan Svankmajer and Jiri Barta have directed some really scary stuff |

05.02.13 | Paranormal activity is the least scary movie of all time |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | I buy the whole 'paranormal' shit man and it creeped me out in the cinema. Best thing about it was I went with my girlfriend at the time and she was just held on to me for the whole thing, hilarious. |
ViralOblivion
05.02.13 | So doors moving and blankets being pulled is scary? Then the cliche ending happens which was not scary as well I didn't pay for that movie and I left that theater livid fuck that movie |
NightProwler
05.02.13 | Actually haven't seen 1, although I've had it recommended. 2 I thought was enjoyable, but not as good nor as scary as everyone else thought it was. But it was kinda creepy, yeah |

05.02.13 | Not sure if it's been mentioned because I can't be arsed to read through, but any fan of horror should check out a French film called Martyrs. It's horrifying and intelligent. Best horror I've ever seen |
BigPleb

05.02.13 | We do it every Halloween, watched Scream marathon last year. My mate Mike was shitting himself on the couch and my mate put his Scream mask on and tapped on the window. He turned round and yelped, was fucking priceless. |
defjaw83
05.02.13 | Martyrs is more than decent, it's a horror masterpiece. [REC] really scared the shit out of me when I first watched it. Not really as hardcore, but The Woman In Black is really fucking creepy |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Hated Woman in Black, fuck all happens for most of it and it was pretty toned down. |
defjaw83
05.02.13 | Ah man, I thought it was a really good antidote to all the shit American horrors that keep coming out. Really atmospheric. The Orphanage is another good one, produced by Guillermo del Toro |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Del Toro did Pans Labyrinth? |
GuanoBumbershoot
05.02.13 | The diner scene really gets me too. I'm drawing a huge just-woke-up blank on other scenes that have stuck. If I can think of one, I'll be back. |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Scariest scene ever, agreed. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
05.02.13 | Insidious got me at a point as well, when they're at the table talking, then the camera cuts to one of the women and there's the face of that fucked up red thing there.
Second time round it wasn't as scary, cos I was expecting it! |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | That film was like Paranormal Activity but filmed normally haha. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
05.02.13 | The ending was pretty pointless though. |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | It was shit haha, didn't enjoy it at all. |
GuanoBumbershoot
05.02.13 | "Insidious got me at a point as well, when they're at the table talking, then the camera cuts to one of the women and there's the face of that fucked up red thing there."
Didn't you see it like 50 times in the trailer though?
