Ali's 2013: February

My 10 favourite records of the past month, in no particular order. February started really well but fizzled out a little towards its end. What have been your favourites?
1Frightened Rabbit
Pedestrian Verse

Ali likes Frightened Rabbit? Whodathunkit?! Seriously though, December's Traditions aside, this is pretty much everything I hoped it's be. Amazing.
2 Rotting Christ
KATA TON ?AIMONA EAYTOY

Another Rotting Christ album. Another good Rotting Christ album. Didn't really pull any surprises, but I for one am not complaining.
3Pissed Jeans
Honeys

I've been listening to loads of classic hardcore recently, and it's striking how much this record, and Pissed Jeans in general, hark back to that era, Black Flag's My War especially.
4Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds
Push The Sky Away

Really like the direction he's taken here. The closing title track is sublime.
5Darkthrone
The Underground Resistance

All the 5's are a bit silly, but this is way better than a Darkthrone record in 2013 has any right to be.
6The Bronx
The Bronx (IV)

Sets out like a house on fire, though it does lose a little steam towards the end. Still pretty solid.
7My Bloody Valentine
m b v

Still haven't fully come to terms with the fact this actually exists. It's an excellent comeback, though I can't help but feel some of the marks given have been a little inflated.
8Foals
Holy Fire

Foals' most confident, accessible and, in my opinion, best record yet.
9Ron Sexsmith
Forever Endeavour

I don't know an awful lot about Ron Sexsmith's back catalogue, but this is a really pleasant listen.
10Eels
Wonderful, Glorious

Eels are one of my favourite bands, but I wasn't expecting an awful lot from this. It's not E's best work by any stretch, but it's probably his best since Blinking Lights...
