Eels albums these days are pretty immediate, I've not changed my mind about any of their more recent ones after about two listens. I should have a review of Wonderful, Glorious up tomorrow. |

02.17.13 | Kind of just started getting into these guys. While I love "Novacain for the Soul" the Beautiful Freak album just seemed like a bunch of filler riding on that one hit. Does it get better with repeat listens? Electro Shock Blues is what did it for me.

02.18.13 | Personally, I'd say Novacain For The Soul is the best song on Beautuiful Freak, but there's plenty of great material outside that (Susan's House, Beautiful Freak, My Beloved Monster etc). I think the main reason it's not that easy to get into is its murky production, which can seem to meld everything into one. So yeah, I certainly found it to be a grower. |
