Why I Like 2006 Better Than 2007
Thinking on it now i realize that 2006 was filled with many of my favorite albums. These 15 are extremely high played on my Itunes. Bring on the hate
my best of 2006 as of the end 2007 |
1 | | Cambiata Into the Night
This small band from maine is the most listened to band on my itunes. With over a 1000 plays its easy for me to put them on the top spot. My band played a show with them in my small town in pa and i was instantly in love with their live act. I bought their cd and then i was hooked. With a great mix of metal riffs jazzy breakdowns and alternative lyrics and hooks there is something for everyone to like in this album. I have no idea why this band isn't signed on a major label. Everyone who reads this do youself and favor and listen to them. www.myspace.com/cambiata Best Tracks I can't pick one every song is a 10 out of 10 |
2 | | Brand New The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
Jesse Lacey is the greatest songwriter of modern music. There i said it bring on the hate. His lyrics are poetic genius and it shows in every last song on this album. This album is truly the music that brand new was destined to make. The Best album that you've heard of in 2006 Best Tracks Jesus Christ, Not the Sun, Limousine |
3 | | John Mayer Continuum
To those who doubt John Mayer as guitarist i dare them to listen to this album. With Mayer's older albums i felt that the singles weren't crap compared to the gold that was in between them. This album though every track is AMAZING you can't skip any of them. Best Tracks Gravity, Slow Dancing in a Burning Room, I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You) |
4 | | Saosin Saosin
One of my most anticipated albums of the year. Mainly because i loved the translating the name ep with anthony green and i was extremely curious as to see what cove reber could do. Though the album does suffer from overproduction i try to only let that improve my opinion of it. Cove's vocals are amazing with him hitting high notes that he wouldn't normally hit. I just wished the producer wouldn't have took out Alex's double bass runs there aren't any on the album. Best tracks Sleepers, I Never Wanted To, Follow and Feel |
5 | | The Early November The Mother, The Mechanic, and the Path
I wish that i could have seen this band before they parted ways but sadly i never got the chance. I love the guitar on this album made with the addition of Bill Lugg. The emo epic album basically showcasing how creative Ace Enders is
Best Tracks Decoration, A Little More Time, The One That You Hated |
6 | | Alesana On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax
I used to live in North Carolina a couple years ago and i remember seeing this band at a couple local show and thinking that this band had potential and i was totally right. Many People don't like them at all but i can't get enough Sean's voice is whiny but i do like that. Very Good live show too. Best Tracks Ambrosia, Congratulations i Hate You, Third Temptation of Paris |
7 | | The Sleeping Questions and Answers
Victory Records 2nd best band (with the first being Between the Buried and Me of course) This album was by far the biggest surprise of the year. Don't let the label turn you away very solid album. Best Tracks Heart Beats, Loud and Clear, The Climb |
8 | | Dance Gavin Dance Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean
Though not as good as their newest effort i still found every second of this album to be extremely great. Johhny's singing is still heavenly even though this album isn't nearly as produced. Best Tracks The Robot Vs. Heroin Battle of Vietnam, The Importance of Cocaine, Burning Down the Nicotine Armoire |
9 | | Sky Eats Airplane Everything Perfect on the Wrong Day
One Vocalist, One Guitarist, and Mac are the members of Sky Eats Airplane during the making of this album. simple guitar riffs electro beats and Brack Cantrells amazing vocals made for a very interesting experience. Best Tracks Patterns, Giants in the Ocean, She Is Just a Glitch |
10 | | Underoath Define the Great Line
Underoath started out as a really heavy band for a couple albums, then turned into a radio friendly screamo band, and now they have returned to their heavier roots. The guitar riff on the very first track followed by Spenser's scream is great. Best Tracks In Regards to Myself, Writing on the Walls, There Could Be Nothing After This |
11 | | Bring Me the Horizon Count Your Blessings
This album wasn't released in the U.S. until 2007 but i've known about them for a while and preordered the album and got it last year at the England release. Oli Sykes is probably my favorite metal vocalist. He has such a huge range its crazy. Every person in this band is extremely talented. Best Tracks Pray For Plagues, For Stevie Wonders Eyes Only, Off the Heazey |
12 | | Blessthefall His Last Walk
Even though pretty much every song is in D-minor this album can still be a great listen. Craig is an amazing vocalist and he shows it off very well. The songs are fast and in your face the whole time. Great energy throughout. Best Tracks Message to the Unknown, Praise, Black Rose Dying |
13 | | Plus 44 When Your Heart Stops Beating
I might just be biased as to liking this because i consider blink 182 to be my favorite band but i love this album. Catchy melodies and great drumming its just blink minus toms vocals so i loved it. Best Tracks Lycanthrope, Baby Come On, No It Isn't |
14 | | Muse Black Holes and Revelations
I wasn't very big into muse at the time until my friend would make me listen to this all the time. I fell in love with and it made me listen to muse even more. Best Tracks Knights of Cydonia, City of Delusion, Map of the Problomatique |
15 | | Killerpilze Invasion Der Killerpilze
Your Reasonsimple and catchy pop-punk made by 16 and 17 year old blink-182 inspired german teens (with the exception of their drummer who was only 13 when the album was made) I found this band when i visited Germany in summer '06 nothing classic but it was very enjoyable.Best Tracks Springt Hoch, Ich Kann Auch (Ohne Dich), Ferngesteuert |
