SgtPepper 01.17.13	YankeeDudel pretty much did a great job of covering the essentials, so do take his recs to heart- especially Mahavishnu if you liked John McLaughlin's performance on Bitches Brew (even though his playing style is vastly different) I'd also say look into Return To Forever, I've really been digging them lately. They're a Jazz Fusion band that mixes Funk and Psychedelic/Prog into their mix. Chick Corea (one of the pianist in Bitches Brew) started the band.
