|6||Coheed and Cambria|
Year of the Black Rainbow
Not a bad album by any means, but it has an overwhelming feeling of a band trying to be something it isn't. It's almost like they use Pennie as a showcase: here's a really mathy drum pattern because he's Chris Pennie (Guns of Summer). It's nearly progression for progression's sake, and that always pisses me off. Still, Here We Are Juggernaut, Far, World of Lines, and Made Out of Nothing are solid tracks. One last beef: Claudio's vocals are too low in the mix. Actually, the mix really sucks at times. The industrial sound becomes a clusterfuck instead of anything coherent or helpful. In the end, it's aight.

The Afterman: Ascension
A fine, fine return to form, but unfortunately includes some throwaway tracks like Subtraction or to a lesser extent Goodnight, Fair Lady. I absolutely love Domino and Mothers of Men, and Evagria is right up there. Hollywood? TBD.

No World for Tomorrow
Hair metal in the 21st century. Title track, Feathers, The Running Free, Gravemakers and The End Complete are top notch, but there are a few hiccups to be found. Radio Bye Bye isn't bad, it's just...nothing, and On the Brink falters toward the end. But again, minor complaints

The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Needs to be top 3, and as you'll see, is nearly interchangeable with IV for me. I can't even articulate any faults with this album, except that a few songs become boring after repeated listens. So, yeah, not a strong defense of putting this below IV, but it's my list so back off bungy.
|2||Coheed and Cambria|
From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
2 and 3 are NEARLY interchangeable for me, but IV gets the edge over Second Stage for the Willing Well set. The title track here is underrated as hell, and along with Welcome Home, Ten Speed, and The Suffering, more than makes up for potential duds like Always and Never or Wake Up. But you want to know a secret? I think those two contribute an assload to this album in the way that they get us into the Writer's crazy mind. And plus they Zeppelin out on two songs.

In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
It's funny, because when I first listened to this I really disliked it. I thought it dragged on unnecessarily and shit on itself toward the end. But I was wrong. The title track, The Crowing, Three Evils, The Camper Velorium triad, A Favor House Atlantic, and 21:13 are Coheed tracks of the highest caliber, and the "second rate" songs here are not really second rate. Besides when Claudio sings "Dear Ambellina" I almost 5 this shit on the spot.
switch 1 and 2 and i'd completely agree
I need to listen to 1 more
I'm feeling a Coheed binge coming on will probs see them live again this tour, they always bring it
1,2, and 5 are my top three.
I gave you a shoutout bung-nasty. And I'll probably see them this tour too. They kill live.
I was gonna tear your ranking apart but I'll show respek now
2=3 for me, and we've got the same ranking.
1 is sooo good
moer liek dirty sanchez dodhodohehehehe
how dare you
At the moment, I'm the same except with 5 and 6 switched. However, I think when Descension is released, those two will be much higher on my list.
132546 is my ranking
List is wrong and Goodnight Fair Lady is the tits
1 is 1
3 is very slightly better than 2 imo, haven't heard 4 or 6, but 5 seems about right
1 is their masterpiece, every song is so fucking great, 3 is one of the greatest debuts of all time and just below IKS. I think GA1 has some weak songs when taken out of the context of an album, but works perfectly as a whole even if it drags a little. NWFT gets a rough go, it's very solid. YOTBR is pretty shit by Coheed's standard, and i love afterman, can't wait to hear pt2. fuck this band is great.
Yeah, definitely looking forward to pt. 2
I kinda wish they'd have made the cd cases for Ascension and Descension fit together
like what SoaD did with Hypnotize and Mezmerize
@Cipieron Has the artwork for Descension been released?
