Atari's 15 Favorite Metal Bands.

List is my 15 favorite metal bands at the moment. I'm still somewhat new to the metal genre especially death metal so any recs based on these is encouraged.
15As I Lay Dying
An Ocean Between Us

I got into metalcore before I got into thrash and sabbath and all the essentials. Still one of my favs even though I don't love the new album.
14Agalloch
The Mantle

I haven't let all their material digest yet, but the mantle is brilliant. cool band.
13Black Sabbath
Master of Reality

SHIT. This is supposed to be waaaay higher on the list but I somehow forgot. Please consider this to be between number 2 and 3, my bad.
12Pantera
Vulgar Display Of Power

viper will prolly hate on me for this one, but Pantera is a pretty important band with some pretty thrashin stuff.
11At The Gates
Slaughter Of The Soul

omg the riffs on this...
10In Flames
The Jester Race

catchy melodeath. sweet band, their early work is awesome.
9Insomnium
Since The Day It All Came Down

I have to say, this is my favorite melodic dm band right now. Since the Day and Weeping World are incredible.
8Dio
Holy Diver

I wanted this to be higher on the list because Dio is one of my favorite metal vocalists. Unfortunately, his discog isn't very consistent but Holy Diver and The Last in line are essential.
7Rainbow
Rising

Deep purple +dio, what more could you ask for?
6Anthrax
Spreading The Disease

This band deserves more attention than it gets around here. Spreading the Disease and Among the living are two amazing thrash albums.
5Judas Priest
Painkiller

Not as good or consistent as Maiden IMO but still one of the most important bands in metal.
4Megadeth
Rust In Peace

yea yea, Mustaine's considered a douche around here, but Rust in Peace is the best thrash album I've ever heard and it just keeps getting better.
3Metallica
Ride The Lightning

Although I think Rust in Peace is better than any Metallica album, these guys are still a spot above Megadeth for me.
2Death
Symbolic

I'll admit I discovered this band fairly recently thanks to you guys, but they're simply some of the best metal I've ever heard especially their last 4 albums. m/
1Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden

Best damn metal band on the planet. they still rock hard m/
