Powerviolence Explained

Lack of powerviolent knowledge around these parts. Everyone thinks its either the same thing rras grind or its just really fast punk but they DONT KNOW. Powerviolence is essentially a more rrmodern version of thrashcore (explained below) with the addition of one thing: the tempo rrchange! ErRaTiC and UNPREDICTABLE, this is what makes pv one of the best frikkin genres rout rthere. some bands go real fast, take a breather for a couple milliseconds then go real rfast ragain while others bring it down so slow youre like ?man why didnt i just listen to a rfrikkin sludge record??? Bad move buddy because before you know it more riffs of lightning are rrgetting shoved in and around your butthole
1 Origins

The origins of pv lie in thrashcore, which was basically 80s hardcore sped up and cut short. Thrashcore in its original form is
tricky to find nowadays. Youll need to do some serious blog searching to build up a decent catalog (not jokin around). these are
some bands that pre-empted pv's first wave and are all essential listens
2Septic Death

3Raw Power
Screams From The Gutter

Drop Dead
5Cryptic Slaughter
6 1st Wave (Late 80's-2000)

PV can be split into two waves mainly due to a large number of the original bands in the genre breaking up prior to or around
2000. Some are still around. Albums listed are my favorites from each band along with suggested listenings from discographies
