The Start of Something Beautiful
I lack the theory knowledge to figure out the drum rhythm to this song, so I always get lost trying to count it (alternating between 14 and 17 beats or something). Combined with the hypnotic bass and synth, this song is haunting and beautiful. The lyrics are something I can actually relate to, which is rare for a porcupine tree song. Possibly the most masterfully written rock song I've ever paid close enough attention to. Incredibly long, perfectly structured and genius in scope. Rick Wakeman's keyboard solo is the greatest performance the instrument has ever seen. | | 3 | Cynic
