5 Favorite Songs

I need a distraction from this boring school bullshit. Fuck the FAFSA, here are my 5 favorite songs. In order, no less.
1Porcupine Tree
The Start of Something Beautiful

I lack the theory knowledge to figure out the drum rhythm to this song, so I always get lost trying to count it (alternating between 14 and 17 beats or something). Combined with the hypnotic bass and synth, this song is haunting and beautiful. The lyrics are something I can actually relate to, which is rare for a porcupine tree song. Also geetar solos yeeee
2Yes
Close to the Edge

Possibly the most masterfully written rock song I've ever paid close enough attention to. Incredibly long, perfectly structured and genius in scope. Rick Wakeman's keyboard solo is the greatest performance the instrument has ever seen.
3Cynic
Carbon-Based Anatomy

This song is perfect. My #1 drum performance and guitar solo, as well as some pretty great lyrics. I like it even better when it's preceded by Amidst the Coals, which calms the mind completely before the drums kick in and blow me away.
4Steven Wilson
Harmony Korine

Steven Wilson and Gavin Harrison should NEVER EVER EVER be apart. This song is a superb jam that never fails to tilt my head rhythmically on it's neck-pivot.
5Supertramp
Crime of the Century

Some great storytelling in this song. But fuck that, because the interlude or whatever it is, the middle mark and onward is amazingly beautiful. It's the reason the saxophone was invented.
