tombits
08.02.12 | @ jungletiger: i guess that's the sunny day influence coming through, our other guitarist loves those guys and he wrote the majority of this song. funnily enough most of the other songs on ep have a heavy post-rocky kind of vibe
@ tyler: thanks man!
@ deviant: i thought you liked ambient |

08.03.12 | @ darthmann: it's a secret seasons snowdrift fuzz and bit of slapback delay but you can get a similar sound from any silicon based fuzz.
@ spare: i dig this stuff! |

10.03.12 | 5 is waaaay overrated.
Anyway, did I ever link you guys to my band? (It's not ambient!) |
KotoFtw
10.03.12 | That was pretty sweet, dude. I feel like the snare could have a tad more punch, other than that I really like the sound. |
Spare
10.03.12 | yeah 5 is a pretty good rock n roll album idk wtf the deal is. is your band classic rock bro?
my band (soundcloud.com/johnlithgoat) put up a couple songs in the last few days, top one's kinda karate/kind of like spitting influenced, second one's prob our heaviest song, similar to early unwound with some off minor in there. also i (soundcloud.com/steven-farmer) put up a little folk song today that i might open up a record with some day |

You need to bear in mind that: a - that is simply a mixed and mastered session, i.e. it's live in the studio. b - none of the two of us are singers, least of all me. c - these recordings are from 2009/2010 (the band split up when I moved abroad). I usually refer to it as "well-composed songs badly interpreted" LOL
PS: I am "singing" on Shock Trooper, the Yellow Submarine cover, etc. I also play bass on all tracks. |

10.03.12 | oh man myspace. oldschool. will listen |
tombits
10.03.12 | @ king: cheers dude.
@ spare: epithets? haven't ever heard of them, got a link? really digging 'war movies', you do '90s emo kind of stuff really well.
@ Rock: after navigating through the shitstorm of myspace i had a listen to 'shock troopers', i liked it a lot actually. reminds me of the vines back in the day, trashy endearing garage rock.
@ koto: thanks man! |
ReturnToRock
10.03.12 | @Tom (and everyone else) if you guys want MP3 hit me up with an email addy. I know MySpace sucks balls.
The Vines, eh? I would have said the Ramones for that song, and maybe the Undertones for the slower ones.
Thanks for the feedback! |
tombits
10.03.12 | yeah probably my patriotism showing in that comparison. oh and the reason we listed 'is this it' as an influence is because the singer/bassist and other guitarist really dig them and it kind of rubbed off in the way we produced the songs... like the vocal distortion was basically a direct emulation. |
Spare
10.03.12 | http://epithets.bandcamp.com/ amazing emoey indie post punk whatever band from brissy |
ReturnToRock
10.03.12 | Well our guitarist likes Blur, so maybe there's something there. I like them too, but not a direct influence. I also like The Vines, but again, not a direct influence. We were mostly influenced by old punk rock bands from the 70s, in fact, I had an argument with the guy from the studio because I insisted the demo should sound like the Ramones' debut from 1975. He wanted to run it through with ProTools, which would have ruined the concept of our sound. |
tombits
10.03.12 | @ spare: aw yeah, this kicks ass! you seen them live before?
@ rock: yeah the production is banging, did you guys record to tape? |
Spare
10.04.12 | nah i haven't, i really wanna play a show with those guys too. hit em up, they're good people. also
i'm still movin to melbourne next year with most of the band, we should get a beer |
ReturnToRock
10.04.12 | No, to CD. And the production back then really let me down. When we were in the booth, the bass literally shook the floor.
Also, the song Becoming The Bear is completely different from all our other ones. To this day we still don't know how the fuck that happened, lol. |
