Finally Getting Into Converge
I've always listened to the metalcore classics like Botch, Shai Hulud, Dillinger, Coalesce, Cave In, etc. But I could never really get into Converge. It's been months since I've tried to listen to Converge but I gave Jane Doe a spin the other day and finally realized how amazing it is. I don't know why it took me so long to get into them. But last night on YouTube I was watching an interview with Jake from Converge and he said something along the lines of: "Converge isn't a band for first-level music listeners." I think that statement is absolutely true. Anyone disagree? These are the only Converge albums I have listened to, are the others worth checking out?
You Fail Me
Converge clicked for me last night!
good for you.
HappyArseDay has got to be the greatest username I've seen on this sight haha
Naw. Mines cooler.
Nice to hear
They're all worth checking out. But I would listen to "Axe To Fall" next. then go back to their earlier releases. Skip their debut, though.
Great username, by the way.
DEP for the win
Nice! Ok first things first, none of their other albums even come close to Jane Doe. That said, you
can check out their two latest LP's, No Heroes and Axe To Fall, and also their "Pre-Jane Doe" stuff,
like Petitioning The Empty Sky and When Forever Comes Crashing.
A new Converge fan is always reason to celebrate!
I think Axe to Fall is better than Jane Doe by just a bit, haven't listened to PtES or WFCC enough yet to rank them, but I think they'd be below Jane Doe but ahead of YFM and No Heroes.
But every album (except their debut, so I hear) are pretty great, so yeah, check them all out.
Axe to Fall and Jane Doe are the only the only albums by these guys that I like. With that said, they're both 4.5-5 for me.
Listen to No Heroes first. That one's probably the most accessible and then Jane Doe then Axe To Fall, When Forever Comes Crashing etc.
Axe To Fall is the easiest to get into, so you moght want to listen to that next.
But what the hell, just listen to their whole discography.
