Criminally Unrecognized

some albums/bands i feel deserve more recognition here
1Training For Utopia
Plastic Soul Impalement

this album slipped through the cracks around the same time dep released
calculating infinity but i think it's a much more rewarding listen. ferocious, raw
metalcore with dark ambient segues and gritty production. for fans of: dillinger
escape plan/botch/coalesce (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXcnYlemxE8)
http://www.mediafire.com/?fmgd0mr8zxx is the only remaining link to the album on
the internet apparently
2Blindead
Affliction XXIX II MCMXCVI

this band is a side project of ex-behemoth guitarist havoc. affliction is a concept
album about the effects of autism and the song titles form a phrase when arranged
in order ("self consciousness is desire. after 38 weeks, my new playground became
dark and gray, so it feels like misunderstanding when all my hopes and dreams turn
into affliction" really sludgy/dark metal. for fans of: neurosis
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzEPnt9HYLw)
3Adam Haworth Stephens
We Live on Cliffs

the solo album of two gallants' frontman of the same name. catchy folk-rock with
excellent production. for fans of: the felice brothers
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg51daoxUN8)
4Archons
The Consequences of Silence

montreal-based melodic death metal. technical and full of melody without reverting
to the usual melodeath cliches. being canadian definitely gets them extra points
with me. for fans of: arsis/death (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrtQzLj7Y04)
5Belvedere
Fast Forward Eats the Tape

more canadian stuff. fast melodic punk with great musicianship, shame they broke
up after this album, though i believe they've recently reunited for a few shows. for
fans of: a wilhelm scream/strung out/propagandhi
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkCJo3Q-w2k)
6Caravels
Floorboards

post-hardcore/screamo similar in sound to pianos become the teeth, though they
don't get anywhere close to the same amount of praise. for fans of: pianos become
the teeth/state faults (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUiypDIi-6Q)
7toe
For Long Tomorrow

japanese (mostly) instrumental post/math rock. for an instrumental group, they
have a massive sound. the drumming in particular is phenomenal and the interplay
between the four band members is a treat to hear. for fans of: tera melos/battles
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3EEcQ_fhxg)
