Don't get me wrong, the economy as a whole certainly isn't in the best shape but I do definitely think that businesses could get away with a few risks at the moment. Well maybe risks isn't the best word, but they could take on a few more employees and not have to worry too much about it. I think everyone is just a little wary of making those steps at the moment |

Where I work, the management, after a while just kinda loses interest in applications because of the constant steady flow of them. Go to the store one day that you know that there will be a hiring manager (or something) and be super personable and subtly ask how your application is doing, and whether their hiring. One huge thing for drivers is availability on Fridays and Saturdays which are indefinitely the busiest nights on delivery. |

05.14.12 | always been curious about that genre of engineering - what's the market size like for aerospace
engineering employment-wise? would you be at a comparative disadvantage to the more general

kingsoby1
05.14.12 | yeah aerospace sucks in retrospect. i would be mechanical and get a masters in whatever interested me after interning/ whatever. i'd say comp eng and biomed are the way to go. Mat-sci and civil Es make less money. Chem E isn't really even engineering as much as it is chemistry |
sifFlammable
05.14.12 | yeah i myself am a chem E major, and like you said its literally chemistry + engineering classes as distro addons

05.14.12 | can't see how i could pull off the degree otherwise - i switched from philosophy to economics to chem E, and naturally i really don't suit engineering all that well, so i can't see how i could ever compete with the asian machines at my school (no offence to any of yous here if you apply) and maintain a decent grade - so its a reasonable (but i think necessary) compromise to avoid being "royally fucked by the economy" |

05.14.12 | If you dont mind waking up at 5am construction is the way to go. Since the housing market is starting to turn around there will be a rising demand for labor. With an electrician certificate you can make $100/hour doing overtime, which of course won't be all the time but pretty much everyone on construction (union) envies the electricans and plumbers cause they make bank comparably.
Civil Engineers in construction make a ton of money by the way. CE a vague term and of course some of the fields don't pay as well. |
