Review Summary: Thanks computers.

How did it get to all be this good? Electronic music… It doesn’t mean a thing more or less than any other genre anymore, I feel that’s how far it’s come. And it brings out the mystery in things a little, don’t you think? I mean, just listen to the strange ‘bleeps’ and ‘bloops’; the un-placeable groan of bass. Listen to the beat; you’ve never quite heard that before. But you feel it; you almost completely understand it when you give yourself to it. You jump right into that chaotic stir of 1’s and 0’s and dare to feel it human.

I don’t know really; it’s just a kind of music that really gets me thinking. A lot of sounds you hear are comprised of nothing more than mathematical theories; a far cry from the American Football sense either. Lines and geometry converted into strange and marvelous spaces. Aphex Twin himself admitted that more could be done with one of Xenakis’ UPIC math based composition tools than basically any other tool he relied on. It’s crazy to think about, how these seemingly unrelated things come to correlate.

The more you try and think about it, the more you try to bring it back home; and how does that work? It’s a bunch of hollow sounds ringing and getting caught and chipped in strange translation. Someone’s trying to sing through it, but it’s an old phone placing a call across the ocean and there’s one hell of a storm outside. The call does make it through though.

Ah, life is full of possibilities. I can’t see how I make any more sense than, say, 2 + 2 = 4. It’s hard to say were anything at all more than these strange translations; some extended void, strange pulses causing an anomaly of feeling. It’s a feeling we end up labelling human, but it’s nothing more than us stirring and reaching; part for one another and part to ease that contradiction. It’s what some of us try for anyways, or, give up on it after trying. Forcing our eyes closed so that we can enjoy the whole a little more and not break it down so much. All the molecules and binary don’t seem to make sense so “Hey, come to bed.” And you better listen.

Or maybe you get home and it’s more droning or skipping; it’s not the 90’s anymore, the rock just doesn’t feel honest. Or, not so much that, you sit down; you don’t totally know where you’re at so who’s kidding who anyways? You just let yourself breathe…
Ah, life is full of possibilities.
