This album showcases one of the greatest collaborations in the metal scene ever made. Hansi's stentorian voice meets Shaffer's razorblade riffing in a thrilling album with no particular theme. Forget about comparisons with either Iced Earth or Blind Guardian and enjoy. Recommendations: "Fiddler of the Green", "My Last Sunrise", "Winter of Souls", "Pour Man's Crusade".

I imagine the idea of hearing Blind Guardian and Iced Earth struck people as odd and risky when this collaboration was announced. The end result, however, was a bit more pedestrian than one might expect. It's difficult to evaluate the album without drawing comparisons, especially since many of the tracks sound like they could be lifted out of either band's catalogs. Demons & Wizards does occasion to transcend either style and make something that sounds refreshing, namely "Fiddler on the Green," but most of what's contained is less inspirational than one might hope.

Every single track on this album is a timeless classic that brings me to a unique place with
feelings of nostalgy. Fiddler on the green being one of my most favourite tracks of all
time. Even though after several years, my taste in music drifted to a completely different
place, I always come back to this album, and just let myself dream and be taken away. One of
the most important music records I ever had the honour of listening to. It's a crime that
this record doesn't have a proper review on Sputnik. I'd write one, but I don't trust my
writing abilities nearly enough.

More enjoyable than the majority of both Blind Guardian and Iced Earth, respectively. Plenty of riffage and headbanging throughout the album; it's just as much good ol' fashioned, straight-forward Metal as it is Power Metal. Whatever you'd like to call it, it rules.

Albums like this are the reason why I never jump into rating anything hastily. When I first played this through four or five times, I judged it ok but nothing special - yet another workman-like power metal album that is fine for the background, but lacks punch. How wrong could I be? After a good few more listens, this has become a real grower. It has so much to commend it, if you are a power metal aficionado. This is melodic, epic and varied - enough pace changes and song styles to ensure that it keeps breaking in to interrupt whatever else you are doing and command your whole attention. This is great toe-tapping, head-nodding epic metal!

Demons And Wizards? Sounds like a cheesy generic power metal band with cool album covers and stupid lyrics combined with poor musicianship played by guys who try to play faster than Eddie Van Halen high on speed. Actually, they're a pretty good band. The songs are catchy and all-in-all this is a good listen. I suggest picking it up. It's not Children Of Bodom or Iced Earth tough.
