This album is so very unique. It really is an oddity, Ginger Baker on drums, and sounding even better than he did in Cream. It begins with a perfect opening track, and ends just as well. It's kind of like if Cream were an early 90's stoner/desert rock band. I can't recommend this enough. It's really never left my listening rotation.

An aesthetic that'll likely appeal to your OG rocker dad: regulation blues licks and a Black Sabbath plug as handle, little girls on tilt-a-whirls, without-a-stitch witch fantasy, ants stealing stereos, deadpan disappointment in American-prepared tea ("looks like gnat's pee"), "Yeah I wish I was a bird / Birds can fly". They've even got the drummer from Cream. And damned if their hippie-heavy hybrid ain't benchmark. Three-piece boasting apple-pie grooves and way too casual chops, a surplus of enduring riffs, the power to get any crowd movin' and finesse for folksy and string-assisted soars. And right, crucially, they've got that drummer from Cream.

When I first listened to this album, I immediately fell in love with the feeling and the style of this album. This is easily a top 10 album for me. I find something new to love about it every time I listen to it. If you are skeptical, and are just checking the reviews before you listen, trust me, it is definitely worth it.

Calling Sunrise on the Sufferbus a stoner or a hard rock LP would be slightly limiting as it includes a variety of different genres and influences. Overall, the album is blues rock at its core but has a loose mid/late '60s vibe which is probably due to the presence of the legend that is Ginger Baker. The music is quite varied from the boogie of "She Got Me" to The Beatles-esque "Jody Sings" or the Yarbirds-meet-Cream in the '90s "Ants in the Kitchen". Overall, there is a light-hearted atmosphere which is very apparent on "T.U.S.A."; essentially a rant by Baker regarding the American's inability when it comes to making a good cup of tea. Lastly, special mention should be made regarding the sound of drums which is unusually high in the mix but doesn't take away anything from this album because Baker's performance is top-notch.
