Unwound was a noise rock band based in Tumwater. Formed in 1991, the band consisted of Justin Trosper(vocals,guitar, songwriting), Vern Rumsey (bass), and Brandt Sandeno (drums). Unwound's main influencesincluded SonicYouth, Fugazi, The Wipers, Black Flag, Can, Mission of Burma, Hüsker Dü, Nation of Ulysses,Flipper, and Gang OfFour. Unwound's early work was characterized by intense vocals, jagged guitar lines, andmore complex drummingthan the band's peers. In 2001, the band released their first double album and lastalbum as a group Leaves turninside you. Unwound broke up in 2002.
