The Verve

Combining shoegaze and traditional british rock of the 60s The Verve rose to become one the most significant bands of the modern era. Originallycalled Verve , the band was formed by singer Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones and drummer Peter Salisbury in Wigan,Great Britain in 1989. The band became big stars upon the strengthof singles like "Bittersweet Symphony" and "The Drugs Don't Work". McCabe left the band while touring in 1998 and the band split for good in 1999. In 2007 the Verve announced they had reformed for a brief tour to be followed by a new album in 2008. « hide
