The Gathering, the innovative band from Oss, the Netherlands, formed in 1989 and came to fame in the second half of
1990s with its unique blend of atmospheric sound, progressive elements and the compelling vocals of the passionate former
singer Anneke van Giersbergen. In their earlier years they pioneered the gothic rock/metal sound, but later went on to produce
a more experimental/progressive sound. After van Giersbergen left following 13 years with the band, the remaining member
teamed up with Norse singer Silje Wergeland, with whom they have released their most recent album The West Pole.
