Formed in 1996 under the name Jedi Mind Trick and shortly after renamed, Skycamefalling was a metalcore band based in Long Island, New York. In 1997 the group released a demo titled A Penny For Your Confessions that went on to sell roughly 1,700 copies, landing them a record deal. They continued to pioneer the metalcore genre with their unique mix of hardcore agression, metallic brutallity, and melodic beauty until 2002.
