It was early in 1992 when guitarist Irvan Sembiring has decided to leave Sucker Head, the band that he formed along with bassist J. Sadrach and vocalist Yaya Wacked (a few weeks later, Nano and Doddy joined the band to place lead guitar and drum spot).

After three years of playing thrash metal from pub to pub, playing in many art festivals of high schools and college, and also playing in some underground gigs, finally Irvan felt no more chemistry with guitarist Nano. Irvan has wanted a more aggressive and energetic thrash metal of the likes Kreator and Sepultura, whereas at the time, Nano tended to have a more Iron Maiden influences. In the end, leaving the band then form another one, was Irvan's best solution.

So that's the story, in mid-1992 Rotor was born with the first formation consisted of Irvan (guitar/vocals), Bakkar Bufthaim (drum), Seto (guitar), and Didik (bass). However this formation didn't last for long time, Seto and Didik left the band with only few weeks of togetherness. Later, Judapran joined the band for bass slot, and this line-up was where they finally had a success to release the debut Behind The 8th Ball. And also, Jodie Gondokusumo joined the band as lead vocals (2nd album only that featured Jodie as vocalist). Before Rotor recording their 3rd album Jodie left the band and formed Getah, a gothic rock/metal band. He passed away in 1997 (?).

**.

In 1998, before Rotor officially disbanded, Bakkar Bufthaim has decided to leave the band and joined Sucker Head as the drummer. This decision due to demise of the late Judapran as causality of drug overdoses. Therefore in the end, Irvan Sembiring has decided to disband Rotor and declare would not ever reunite anymore.

Concerning Irvan Sembiring, after demise of his very close friend Judapran, he has changed a lots in life attitude and style. More religious and all at once seemed starve for spirituality. This situation is very understandable moreover he has ever been an assassination target for few times from the unidentified political group which has killed many social activis, student prominent figure, and religious leader.

However, his music passion never fades out. Along with his mate J. Sadrach (Sucker Head) he formed RotorCorp that specialized in Indonesia metal underground various artist compilation called Metal Klinik. Jasad, Tengkorak, Siksakubur, and Burgerkill, are some notable name that ever had the song included in the compilation.
