Chances are, if you have heard of one Indian musician, it will be Ravi Shankar. His sitar playing became incredibly popular during the 60s, where he
shot to fame, with rock bands such as the Beatles, Geaorge Harrison in particular, expressing admiration for and in some cases, performing with him.
He played at the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock, despite eyeing the western consumption of Indian tadition, which he viewed as 'superficial'
