Funkadelic indie rockers consisting of Brent Knopf, Justin Harris, and Danny Seim. After graduatingfrom college in late 2000, Knopf decided to collaborate with Harris and Seim. Together theydistributed their home-made CDR's with self done artwork; like true indie rockers. Through theseefforts and Portland's love of their quirkiness, they began to bloom.

It received an 8.7/10 and wasfeatured on the best new music section, which put them on the musical map. This in turn led to alabel offer by FILMguerro.

The second LP titled "Under An Hour" was and is fairly unknown to most. It is an instrumentalalbum consisting of three songs that were used as the soundtrack for an experimental dancecompany called Monster Squad. The album got mixed reviews but served as a glimpse into thecreative potential of the band (the three tracks are all over 17 minutes and incorporate everyinstrument imaginable..

The latest addition to the Menomena discography started 2007 with a blast. "Friend and Foe" is anextremely lush album. Period. The band, in this album, experiments with off-beats, tempo switches, and creative melody structures extensively. While being received well for the most part by critics, some claim all of the oddness is a little overwhelming and over-the-top at times. The artowrk forthe album, done by Craig Thompson, was nominted for a Grammy Award for "Best RecordingPackage" in December 2006. « hide
