Lucid Skies was formed in the summer of 2009. The original line up was a culmination of members of previous local Edmonton bands, featuring Jesse Berger & Justin Sturek on guitar and vocals (both formerly of Edmonton local band Shattered Suns), "Dahmer" Vanderhoek on guitar, Ryan Berehulke & Max Reicher on bass and drums (both (now former) members of local Edmonton death metal band Desecrate The Gods), & "Big" Nick Odgen on vocals. The first show for Lucid Skies took place at Avenue Theater in their hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on August 28th, 2009. Numerous shows were played over the course of the next year with a variety of bands, both local and non, and the first demo EP titled "Falling Into Open Eyes" was recorded and released in January 2010. After a July 17th show in Edmonton at B Scene Studios, Ryan, Dahmer and Max all announced their departure, due to personal and musical disagreements. One last show with this line up was played at Avenue Theater on July 25th. Justin Smith replaced Max on drums, and Sam Jackson replaced Ryan on bass. This line up stayed constant for 6 months, until JB had moved to Toronto for a year to go to school, during which time, the band remained dormant. A "goodbye show" for him was played in January 2011, to LS's largest crowd yet of 200 people. JB returned briefly in August 2011 for another show, until returning home for good in December 2011, at which point, the band was put back into full force and began writing again. In February 2012, over a mutual decision, Jreds departed from the lineup. The band have since stayed a 4 piece & have finished writing and recording for their second EP, "Grudge Match," which was released on November 24th, 2012. « hide |
