Kirinji are an influential indie pop band from Japan. Formed in 1996 by brothers Takaki Horigome and Yasuyuki Horigome, Kirinji
has been on a steady increase in mainstream recognition, with their 2010 album "Buoyancy" reaching number 12 on the
Japanese Oricon charts, becoming their highest ranking release to date. In 2013, Yasuyuki Horigome shockingly left, and Takaki
then morphed Kirinji into a full-fledged band. Nevertheless, Kirinji are still known for being one of the most successful indie pop
bands to break the Japanese mainstream within the last 20 years.
