Kaizers Orchestra

There's no conventional way to describe the music of Norwegian six-piece Kaizers Orchestra. sounds. The band's name gives one insight, they're definitely an orchestra of some kind, albeit a completely unheard of kind. Their sound is typified by a mix of alley-pan drums, raucous horns and dirty jazz guitar. Their sound is typified by a mix of alley-pan drums, raucous horns and dirty jazz guitar. If nothing else, they're cultured. The website spiel goes on to declare: "The line-up features drums and electric guitar, which goes without saying, plus double bass, a pump organ and oil barrels plus whatever junk they find along the way." If nothing else, they're slightly insane.

Kaizers Orchestra have released seven full-length albums to date. Ompa Til Du Dor was their first album, released in 2002, and they have since released six further LPs, Evig Pint in 2003, Maestro in 2005, Maskineri in 2007, VĂ¥re Demoner in 2009,Violeta Violeta Vol.I in January 2011 and Violeta Violeta Vol. II in November 2011. Their debut earned them a Norwegian Grammy, recording sales in excess of 100,000 in their native land alone.
