June of 44 Post Rock, Post Hardcore |
June of 44 formed in 1994. Their name references June Miller, the wife of Henry Miller and the year during which Anaïs Nin
began writing about June in her diaries. The band featured ex-members of Rodan, Hoover, Lungfish, Codeine, Rex, and The
Crownhate Ruin, and thus each of June of 44's members brought unique musical experience to the group. Before their split in
2000, they released 6 albums that covered post-rock, math, dub, jazz, ambient, and punk influences while maintaining a steady
aesthetic of thoughtful, passionate, and intelligent independent rock.
