Jamie Blake

Jamie Blake (born c. 1976) is a singer/songwriter. She currently performs as a member of The Rentals alongside Matt Sharp, a former member of Weezer.

Blake grew up in Chicago before moving to New York in 1994 to study at New York University. She dropped out of NYU intent on getting a record deal, and busked in Washington Square Park. A three-song demo tape created interest and, within nine months of leaving NYU, she was signed by A&M Records in 1996. Her debut album, self-titled Jamie Blake, was released in August 1997.

She made a special guest appearance as herself on the television show "Beverly Hills 90210". Songs from that album recently appeared on the television show "Gossip Girl". She created a second album for Geffen Records as part of the duo "vixtrola", which was not released. She has performed with Jeff Buckley, Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, The Vandals, Nine Inch Nails), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson). She is thanked by the Scissor Sisters on their debut album. She is the credited composer on the film "Boutonniere", which made its debut at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. « hide
