Hiroko would start her music career in Japan with the release of her debut album “One in a Million”, which would later be rereleased in 1990 in the US with a different track listing, with the US reissue including the single “My Love’s Waiting”, which would have some success in dance clubs across the US. This would make Hiroko one of the very first modern pop singers to garner success overseas, along with Eriko Tamura. She would continue to have a presence in the US, including attending a US/USSR songwriter summit with the likes of Cyndi Lauper, which would culminate in Hiroko’s music being released in the USSR, arguably making her the first modern Japanese pop artist to have her music released in the nation. She would later be given the title of “Queen of House” due to her house-influenced sound. By late 1992, however, Hiroko would refocus her attention on the Japanese market exclusively, with her 1993 album, which was self-titled, being released in Japan only. This would end up being her final release before her sudden disappearance from the public eye by 1995. « hide
