Gilgamesh were a jazz fusion/canterbury scene band led by keyboardist Alan Gowen. The music is almost entirely instrumental, and relies heavily on an approach to composition that is more jazz influenced than rock influenced. However, Gilgamesh do not sound like your standard jazz rock fusion band, and have a distinctive atmosphere that just screams canterbury scene. The band will appeal to fans of National Health, Hatfield and the North and Soft Machine.
