Meanwhile, a chance opportunity would spawn the "Creative Eclipses" EP, a drastic change in the sound that would eventually help to andindirectly
result in 2000's "Jupiter". In Brodsky's words, it was their "first real album as a 4-piece band", and altered Cave In's approachfrom riffs and sonic
wreckage to spacey, experimental alterna-rock. This new sound would also influence and continue into 2003's"Antenna", easily their most (relatively)
mainstream record to date.
In 2005, Cave In would respond to the shift with "Perfect Pitch Black", a record that seemed to encompass a range of their styles from pastrecords
into one, along with the addition of Converge's drummer, Ben Koller. They have since moved on to a indefinite hiatus of sorts.
But wait, in april 2009 it was announced that they were not only back together, but recording new material, to be released at their reunionshow at
Great Scott in the form of the "Planets Of Old" Vinyl only ep. The said reunion show sold out in 4 minutes, and shocked all, fans andband members
alike. The show took place on 7/19/09 « hide |
