Bow Wow Wow were formed by Malcolm McLaren in 1980 after he persuaded the rhythm section of Adam & the Ants to form a new group, fronted by Anabella Lwin. Taking David Barbarossa's Burundi-influenced drumbeats as their trademark, they went on to have a long career (1980-1983) of creating tribal-influenced new wave/pop, and in the process releasing their now-famous (with a little help from MTV) cover of The Strangeloves'
