Dissection
Black Metal

With antics ranging from extreme satanism to full-on murder, Dissection have been pushing the limits of what bands accomplish in their lives. With antics ranging from extreme satanism to full-on murder, Dissection have been pushing the limits of what bands accomplish in their lives. Since forming in 1989, the band has defined melodic black metal with their debut The Somberlain and then with the now legendary Storm of the Light's Bane, an album that following melodic black metal bands strive to match. Featuring cold atmospheres, haunting melodies, and terrifying vocals, Dissection had presented as an alluring outfit of extreme metal. Following the 10 year prison sentence of Jon Nodtveidt in 1997, it seemed as though the Dissection era had come to a close. But upon his release in 2004, the rebirth has come, and Dissection lives on. 2004 saw the release of Maha Kali, an EP the introduced the band's new Gothenburg sound. After a series of shows to bid permanent farewell to the first era of Dissection, Reinkaos was released to a massive, worldwide welcoming of open metal arms. Sadly, founder Jon Nodtveidt committed suicide in august of 2006, ending his own personal legacy as well as Dissection's. Nodtveidt is hailed as a true satanist who lived his life according to his own convictions and ended it when he felt he had served his purpose. Despite any satanist beliefs, it's hard to deny that Dissection was one of the most influential metal bands in the world. « hide
