Incubus was formed in southern California by high school friends Brandon Boyd (vocals), Michael Einziger (guitar), Jose Pasillas II (drums) and Alex "Dirk Lance" Katunich (bass). After playing various shows at private and school partys and recording sevel demo tapes, Incubus released their first album Fungus Amongus in 1995. The album had a hard rock sound with major elements of funk and jazz, which developed further with their following album S.C.I.E.N.C.E.in 1997. After the release of S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Incubus replaced DJ Lyfe with DJ Chris Kilmore due to creative differences. The 1999 album Make Yourself marked a kind of breakthrough for the band, as they got more and more popular (mostly because of the song Drive, which had a lot of airplay). Building off the success of their previous album, Incubus released Morning View in 2001, an album that was much mellower than their previous releases. At the end of 2003, Incubus announced that bassist Dirk Lance had been replaced by former Roots guitarist Ben Kenney, which ultimatley lead to the creation of their new sound. After a creative pause, they released A Crow Left Of The Murder, which sounded nothing like any previous material released. After doing their first world tour in 2004, Incubus worked on various material throughout 2005. Their latest album, called Light Grenades, including the single "Anna Molly", is now available. « hide
