Chris first picked up a guitar at the age of six. He's a killer guitarist now, and never fails to amaze during his exceptional solos. Scott Owen first started learning bass when he was seventeen. He began learning on a double bass...which was necessary for the Rockabilly image they were aiming for in their music. Their first drummer was Joe Piripitsi, who heard the boys jamming one day and asked if he could join. Joe stayed long enough to witness the release of two EPs: Hellbound and It's For Your Own Good. Joe left the band after some time, to be replaced with Trav Dempsey. Trav assisted in the production of The Living End's first album (self-titled) and Roll On. He left shortly after Roll On and the potentially fatal car accident Chris Cheney had, which could have put his guitar playing days to an abrupt end. Andy Strachan, who had been learning the art of drumming since the age of 12, was thrilled to join the band in place of Trav. Chris recovered from his horrific experience, however, and wrote many songs in his time away from touring and playing. A small amount of these songs were chosen to be in the next album, Modern ARTillery, which was a much mellower choice from the previous albums. The final album was State of Emergency, which was released not long ago, and shot straight to number one in Australia immediately after its emittance. State of Emergency is one such album that really portrays the true persona of The Living End. The boys have learned so much over their many successful years, and have applied their knowledge to their songwriting, which has yet to waver. « hide
