Torche is a Stoner metal/Sludge metal/Doom metal band from Miami, Florida
The group was formed by Steve Brooks (ex Floor), Juan Montoya (ex Floor,ex Cavity), Jonathan Nuñez & Rick Smith (who also plays in the grindcore band Shitstorm[1]). They have toured with Mogwai, Isis, Baroness, Jesu, The Sword, Stinking Lizaveta and Boris. [2]. Yet [3]Steve Brooks said that they don't consider themselves a metal band.
On April 8, 2008, the band released their second full-lenght called Meanderthal. It was met with critical acclaim.
