Hitomi Shimatani is a popular Japanese pop artist that first debuted in 1999 as an Enka singer with the single, "Osaka no Onna".
She quickly abandoned the Enka style, however, and achieved super-stardom just two years later, with her second album,
"Shanti", topping the charts, and staying on the charts for 17 weeks. She, however, hasn't released a studio album since 2008's
"Flare", despite her still making singles, which have rather lackluster sales.
