Formed in 2004, Northampton 'Sacred Mother Tongue' are a four piece British heavy metal band that are now getting the recognition they deserve for their efforts. The first LP released in 2009 entitled ‘The Ruin of Man’ saw them start off with a furious blend of metalcore and abrasive vocals, this was well received especially by the British rock/metal websites and press.After some successful touring which took them all over the UK to arenas such as Sonisphere they entered the studio and emerged with a completely different style for the EP ‘A Light Shines’ this 2012 release had arguably the best songs of their career and it was mainly thanks to the aggressive shredding of guitarist Andy James who is inspired by modern metal with a great mix of technicality and melody.Frontman Darrin South changed vocal style from screaming to singing in a similar style to Serj Tankian which suits the mood of the music and shouldn’t divide the fan-base to much, Fans of Alter Bridge, Exit Ten and Shadows Fall should check these talented musicians out.
