For over twelve years Shadeland has withstood name changes, lineup changes, musical differences, and the ever-present unstoppable force of...babies. Singer and guitarist Allen Kell met drummer Brad Hudgins in highschool in the summer of 1997. With the omniscient knowledge of sixteen year old boys, they decided to make space in their time-consuming teenage schedules to swaddle that obscure whisper of meaning they heard in their first practice together. After losing several vital limbs throughout the years in the form of two bass players, a keyboard player, and a guitar player, they decided to keep Shadeland on life support in 2009 and bring in Tony Vibbert on bass and Dayton Neely on guitar. Breathing life into a project of this length is a taxing and arduous love affair complete with music, disjointed schedules, petty quarrels, ego battles, and monumental break-throughs. Shadeland is a stubborn, uncompromising, and unflinching melodic force of driving rhythms and hooks with no desire for an exit strategy. Spanning the length of four albums, three presidents, 7000 fights, too many drinks, and a few much needed man hugs, they have remained an undeniable presence in the Indy scene. Upon the release of "Red Giant" Shadeland has once again resurrected the proverbial dead horse with one swift kick. « hide
