In 1984, eight completly different guys formed a band. A band that expierenced a ton of genres though always stayed true to rock. The Friday Band. Originally known as The Rottweilers from 1977-1981, the band was formed by best friends Mark McBride (drums, vocals) and Ned Nelson (rhythm guitar, vocals). In 1984, eight completly different guys formed a band. A band that expierenced a ton of genres though always stayed true to rock. The Friday Band. Originally known as The Rottweilers from 1977-1981, the band was formed by best friends Mark McBride (drums, vocals) and Ned Nelson (rhythm guitar, vocals). The band tried and tried again for a record deal but they couldn't secure one. After getting Andy Rogers (bass, vocals) and Cort Fridley (lead guitar, vocals) the band tried even harder but failed to get a record deal as they were considered "too glamish". Eventually in 1980, the band asked their manager, 19 year old Jimmy Anderson to be their lead vocalist. The band changed their name to The Friday Band in 1981. Deciding to create the oddist rock group, the band got Eddie Dixon (guitars, strings), Eddie Bennett (guitars, horns, syntheziers) and Wayne Cummins (piano, keyboards), the band finally secured a record deal with Columbia records. Dropping the glam look, their self-titled debut album was released in 1984 to some success. The band readopted a glam look for their next album in 1985. The band never got much success and after heated arguments, injuries and lost friendships, the band broke up 1989 but they recorded music well into 1991, though none of this stuff was released. « hide |
