Earth is an American musical group band based in Seattle, Washington.
Active since 1990 and led by guitarist Dylan Carlson, Earth have played various styles of music, but are best known as pioneers of "drone doom" – an experimental offshoot of hard rock and heavy metal, characterized by droning, minimalistic, lengthy, and repetitive structures. Earth's early albums could be seen as a variation of the experimental doom-influenced metal of The Melvins.
